Madam Brussels Walking Tour
22 March @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Madam Brussels Tour explores the nineteenth-century history of the famous ‘slums’ and ‘red-light’ districts of Little Lon and Little Bourke, today transformed into a vibrant cafe and business precinct.
Explore the lives, hopes and dreams of the people of the era including the vilified Caroline Lohmar or ‘Madam Brussels’ who operated luxurious bordellos as well other significant women such as Mary McKillop, Esther Silcock, Vida Goldstein, Constance Stone, Lola Montez, Marie Hayes, Dolly Gray, Margaret Dougan and others.
On Friday 22 March, gather at the Casselden Building, 2 Lonsdale St, near corner of Spring St. Pay $25 cash on the day. You will meet Mei your U3AMC host, and Meyer from Melbourne Walks.
