Melbourne History Walk as Revealed by its Gardens

17 April @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Thursday, April 17th at 10am

Melbourne’s gardens contain a visual record of our city – not complete but full of interesting stories of events, characters and the evolution of our gardens. This is not a botanical tour but will use monuments to tell our story. The walk begins in Carlton Gardens at the Exhibition Building, and then moves through Parliament Gardens, Gordon Reserve, Treasury Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens, Yarra Park and Birrarung Marr. Depending on interest and stamina, we could continue on to Queen Victoria Gardens, Kings Domain and finish in the Botanic Gardens.

Expected time is 3 hours, however participants can exit at any point. Expect an amble rather than a power walk.

Meet John Stone at the northern entrance of the Exhibition Building, opposite the Museum.

Free walk. Register through MyU3A: Login (button at top right), Click All Courses 2025 twice, then Events tab
