Dickens on the Thames with Lyndsey Burton
18 January @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Lyndsey is a U3A member and Secretary of the Melbourne Dickens Fellowship.
Take a virtual boat ride and explore the river’s connections with the life and work of Charles Dickens. Dickens’ father was incarcerated in Marshalsea Debtors Prison near the river in Southwark, forcing young Charles at the age of 12 to work in a factory at Hungerford Stairs (now the site of Charing Cross Station) to support his family.
