A creative writing competition to celebrate our 40th Anniversary and to showcase the talents of our members. We invite you to write a piece of  fact, fiction or poetry (strict 1,000 word limit) – with 40 as the theme.

Merilyn will number each entry and pass it on to Liz Mullin, just retired after eight years running our Monday Writers group. Unaware of the identity of the authors,  Liz will choose five finalists.

These will go to Mark Rubbo, retired Managing Director of Readings. We are so fortunate to have Mark’s involvement as final arbiter. For the past fifty years he has been a significant figure in Melbourne’s literary world, encouraging new writers and judging writing prizes, including the Miles Franklin Award. He was also influential in setting up the Melbourne Writers Festival and the Readings Foundation.

The final five will receive book vouchers and be published on our website.
