About This Event

Discovering Melbourne’s Treasury Gardens and its surrounds, brings to light a number of little known stories and characters. This guided walk identifies some of the lesser known historical events that have occurred around one of Melbourne’s foremost parks. We’ll visit a former site of one of Melbourne’s leading public schools that boasted a famous scholar, learn of a number of crimes committed within the precinct; crimes that were met with the harshest penalty. We’ll note a number of statues, three unique memorials, a piece of public art that represented 30,000 signatures and hear a story of human resilience and determination that overcame a physical handicap.

A COFFEE AND/OR TOASTIE AT AN INTERESTING CAFÉ AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE WALK IS AN OPTIONAL EXTRA.

MEETING LOCATION: Bottom of steps, Old Treasury Building, Spring Street at top of Collins Street
