Life Member: Angela Moodie

Awarded 2022

2011: Angela joined our U3A in October 2011.

2012: She started volunteering in the U3A Office in February 2012.

2015: She took on the role of assistant tutor for the Craft Group and is its Tutor currently.

2016:  She stopped volunteering in the office at the start of 2016 to concentrate on the Craft Group. Whilst Angela stopped doing office shifts, she didn’t stop doing Admin work. She loaded database entries for short courses and sent out class emails up until 2020.

2017: She was Class Assistant for Positive Psychology

During Angela’s period in the office she experienced the move from paper based to computerised systems. Firstly there was the Data Base “Canopus” and then MyU3A our current membership system.  During her time in the office, Angela was always willing to take on extra tasks including taking responsibility for the preparation of Class rolls and doing it manually for a number of years.

In 2018, 19 and 20 she took on the task of uploading the short courses onto the MyU3A system and sending out class emails prior to Short Course enrolments opening, in addition, to her role as Craft Group tutor.

Angela has been Craft group assistant tutor and tutor for 8 years and managed to keep the group going both in person and via Zoom during COVID.  She facilitated the group’s participation in the annual Seniors Festival when our U3A took part and ensured that high quality craft items were available for sale thus promoting our U3A.

Angela is highly respected for both her work as an Office Volunteer and Craft Tutor/Coordinator. Her concern as to the general wellbeing of the class is quite remarkable. She keeps close watch on members who are unwell and has enabled an ex-member to re-join.

She additionally arranges meetings for coffee and lunches. She also keeps the group “entertained” with her off beat jokes!

Angela has been and continues to be a great asset to our U3A .
